Chiropractic at Horsley Chiropractic Healthcare
What Is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a primary health-care profession. It is the third largest profession after medicine and dentistry. There are about 10 million chiropractic patient visits to BCA members every year.
Chiropractic is a form of healthcare concerned with diagnosis and treatment of problems with the framework of bones and muscles that support the body (the musculoskeletal system). Problems can be caused by accidents, lack of exercise, poor posture, illness and everyday wear and tear.
Chiropractors are governed by statute and because of this chiropractors have to keep up to date with training. So as a patient you can be reassured of the best possible treatment for your problem.
What Conditions Do Chiropractors Treat & Who Is It Suitable For?
Chiropractors treat problems with joints, muscles and nerves. They can treat all the joints in the body but are mainly concentrated on the spine.
Chiropractors understand the mechanics and neurology of the body in an organised and practical way. Practitioners use different tests and analysis to gather large amounts of information and then correct the underlying problem using highly effective, specific methods.
Chiropractic is suitable for everybody from babies to the elderly. So the chiropractor looks at the person as an individual and will tailor a package of care for them.
What Some Of Our Clients Say About Chiropractic
“As an athlete, people recommend treatments to you all the time but this has made a big difference to my overall health. I’m in just about the best shape of my life.
I had surgery on my back a long time ago and I was always conscious of it. I’ve been to a million therapists, but Julian’s the best. He’s got a real talent for finding what’s wrong.”
Wimbledon Champion,
Pat Cash
“On top of a shock diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease, 6 weeks ago I had the most agonising onset of sciatica in both legs. I’ve never known pain like it. Every step was torture with stabbing pains, my legs felt on fire. As Barnes Chiropractic was close to my home, so hobbling there was possible, I tried Julian’s [chiropractic] treatment, he also recommended a couple of sessions of Acupuncture [with Kelly Sun] and over the last few weeks, the pain has abated and I’m feeling like a different person. I SO recommend the treatment which is aimed at your whole being – not just the localised sore bits. Have patience and faith: I never thought I’d be free of agony – this is like a new life!”

How Do Chiropractors Work?
Chiropractors use gentle but specific manipulation which sometimes chiropractors call adjustments to improve the function of joints which helps to reduce inflammation and restore normal function to the joints.
Apart from manipulation, chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including ice, heat, ultrasound, exercise and acupuncture as well as advice about posture and lifestyle.
Chiropractors do not use drugs or surgery.
How Qualified Is A Chiropractor?
Members of the British Chiropractic Association and registrants of The General Chiropractic Council have completed a minimum of four years full time training at an accredited chiropractic college and this is very comparable in content, hours studied and rigour to conventional medical training.
One of the requirements for maintaining chiropractic registration is to fulfil continuing professional development (CPD). All chiropractors continue on-going postgraduate training each year to maintain the highest standards.
Does Chiropractic Work?
Chiropractic works and is backed up by growing medical evidence and is recommended in numerous government guidelines.
